The 1,000+ hp electric GT gets its official name May 12, with a full reveal set for September and US deliveries expected in mid-2027 — but no federal EV credit applies.

Jaguar is announcing the production name of its electric grand tourer today, May 12, replacing the Type 00 concept label it has used since the car's December 2024 debut. The tri-motor EV carries more than 1,000 hp / 746 kW and is priced well above $130,000, placing it squarely in Bentley and Porsche Taycan territory. One thing it won't carry: any federal EV tax credit — UK assembly makes it ineligible for the $7,500 IRA Section 30D benefit.

Powertrain and range

The production model rides on Jaguar's new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), an 800-volt electrical system — which charges faster than the more common 400-volt — purpose-built for the brand's upcoming EV lineup. Three permanent-magnet motors drive the car: one up front, two at the rear. Peak output exceeds 1,000 hp / 746 kW, with 959 lb-ft of torque.

A 120 kWh NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) battery pack supports up to 400+ miles on the WLTP cycle — the EU range-test standard, not the typically lower EPA figure. DC fast charging peaks at 350 kW, which Jaguar says can add roughly 200 miles in about 15 minutes. A drag coefficient below 0.25 — low for a full-size GT — helps protect that range.

Suspension is dual-chamber air with adaptive dampers at all four corners. Standard wheels are 23 inches; 21-inch units will be an option for buyers who prioritize ride quality over stance.

US pricing and availability

US pricing is expected to fall between $130,000 and $250,000 depending on trim, per reporting by Autocar UK. The full production reveal is scheduled for September 2026, with UK order books opening around the same time. North American deliveries are projected for Q3 2027, initially through California boutique locations.

Because the car is assembled in Gaydon, England, with a non-North American battery supply chain, it does not qualify for the $7,500 federal EV purchase credit under IRS Section 30D. State-level incentives — such as California's $7,500 CVRP — may still apply, depending on final pricing caps and program funding at time of purchase.

In the US market, the charging connector will follow NACS or CCS1 (the North American combined charging standard), not the CCS2 plug used in the UK and Europe.

The brand context

Jaguar's EU registrations fell 86 percent year-over-year in October 2025, bottoming at roughly 2,845 units across 27 EU markets, according to ACEA data cited by Motor1. The brand deliberately paused most sales during its pivot to an all-electric lineup, and the Type 00 successor is meant to relaunch it at a higher price point. Whether a heritage name — something along the lines of the E-Type legacy — resurfaces today remains the open question heading into the announcement.
