Volvo Cars, in partnership with Epic Games, is launching photorealistic imaging technology in its next generation of electric vehicles. Thanks to Epic Unreal Engine, Volvo owners will receive high-quality graphics in the car.

Unreal Engine is a developed and supported Epic Games tool for creating real-time 3D. Volvo Cars plans to be the first European carmaker to use it to develop digital interfaces in its cars, as well as real-time graphics, the automaker said.

It is planned that first the game engine will be integrated into the driver information module (DIM) - one of the displays in the cabin. He will provide relevant information and will be responsible for information and entertainment functions.

Unreal Engine will be combined with Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms. This means that the next generation of Volvo cars will set a new standard for graphics performance: the infotainment system will be more than twice as fast as the previous one, and the generation and processing of graphics in the cabin - ten times.

"The next generation of Volvo cars will impress owners with high-quality graphics on displays: clearer renderings than ever before, rich colors and completely new 3D animation - Volvo Cars expands the boundaries of the car's possible graphic future," Volvo Cars said in a statement.

Photorealistic imaging technology is debuting in a new all-electric flagship model. Volvo Cars is expected to present the electric car next year. The company plans to launch a family of fully electric cars as soon as possible and is committed to producing exclusively electric cars by 2030.
