An answer has been found to the question of how the range of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck will change if its ground clearance is increased and off-road tires are installed.

The Town and Country Ford team decided to test how far the new Ford F-150 Lightning can go on a single charge with the leveling kit and larger wheels with off-road tire tread patterns. As it turned out, significantly less than the electric car in its original state.

The original F-150 Lightning used in the video has a range of 230 miles (370 km). With the installation of a front and rear suspension lift kit and new wheels, ground clearance has increased by 2 inches (5.08 cm) and range on a single charge has been reduced to 186 miles (299 km). That's the style price that off-road tuning fans have to reckon with.

The authors of the video noted that in order to raise the F-150 Lightning, conventional strut spacers were installed in front, as on a gasoline Ford F-150. The rear suspension had to work longer, due to the original multi-link design. Therefore, for now, such a lift kit can be called as experimental.

The Ford F-150 Lightning was introduced in May 2021. The electric pickup differs from the gasoline pickup in a more futuristic design of the front end, as well as original taillights and a tailgate. The F-150 Lightning is only available with the SuperCrew cab. It has a reinforced frame and independent rear suspension instead of the gasoline truck's solid axle.

The cost of the basic version is from 40 thousand dollars, and for the XLT version they ask for at least 53 thousand. The F-150 Lightning is produced at the Ford Motor Plant in Dearborn, Michigan.
