The Chinese company XPeng Motors has unveiled its most advanced and expensive model the size of the Mercedes-Benz GLE.

The XPeng G9, a large five-seat crossover, features the minimalist design and proportions of premium cars with a rear-mounted cab. The novelty received frameless glass, retractable handles and air suspension already in the basic equipment.

The base rear-wheel drive XPeng G9 has a single 313 hp electric motor. and a torque of 430 Nm. The all-wheel drive modification has a 238 hp front electric motor, and the peak output of the system reaches 551 hp. and 717 Nm. 

Both versions are equipped with a 98 kWh traction battery. In the first case, the declared power reserve is 702 km according to the CLTC cycle, and in the second - 650 km. Top speed is limited to 200 km/h. The DC charger can recharge a 200 km trip in five minutes.

High-quality materials are used in the interior design, the seats are equipped with heating, a massage system and electric position adjustments. In front of the driver is a relatively small dashboard display, to the right of which are two combined 15-inch screens of the multimedia system.

The center console features two wireless smartphone charging cradles and a pair of deep cupholders. The crossover is promised a 2250W Dynaudio audio system and Level 3 autopilot with two Nvidia Orin processors. 

Serial production of the XPeng G9 will begin in September, and sales of the crossover will start towards the end of 2022. The manufacturer has not yet announced exact prices, but promised that the flagship model will cost less than 500,000 yuan (74,000 dollars) in China.

In May of this year, the prototype XPeng G9 was seen during road tests in Spain and Portugal, which indirectly indicates preparations for the start of European sales.
