The updated Nissan Juke has already started production at Nissan's UK plant.

The first thing buyers will notice when they get behind the wheel of the Nissna Juke versions above Acenta is the larger screen of the multimedia system. It now measures 12.3 inches diagonally from corner to corner, and is tilted towards the driver by 8° to provide a comfortable reach for the touch controls on the far edge of the screen.

The steering wheel is wrapped in new, smoother leather. And behind the steering wheel is a 12.3-inch digital TFT dashboard screen with a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. The display can be customised to display a combination of data according to the driver's own preferences.

The updated multimedia system has a redesigned user interface. For example, the home screen can now display widgets for the functions that the driver uses most frequently, similar to the home screen of a smartphone.

In addition, the multimedia system is complemented by an improved voice recognition function and the ability to "understand natural language". This extends the use of phrases and expressions that the system can take as commands, ignoring uncertainty or pauses. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless systems are also now available for the Juke.

Other new features include the multimedia system's ability to play video content from USB-connected devices even when the car is parked.

As for the exterior, Nissan has brought back yellow colour to the Juke's palette. The company said that the return of yellow was at the request of customers who have already grown to love the colour since the first generation Juke was introduced. The new yellow colour is different in shade from what was in the previous generation Juke. Compared to the previous shade, the Juke's yellow colour is slightly paler, giving the car a "more modern and impactful look".

Nissan has dropped the entry-level Visia trim from the Juke line-up, as it only accounted for 1 per cent of total sales. Instead, there is a new N-Sport trim, which sits between N-Design and Tekna. The N-Sport's interior gets a matching yellow backlighting that runs boomerang-shaped across the top of the front fascia, before angling to the base of the new centre multimedia screen and terminating at the air vent deflectors.

Continuing this theme are the N-Sport seats with body-coloured alcantara inserts that cover the upper outer part of the seat and transition into the centre of the seat at the side bolsters. The seat and backrest upholstery is quilted in a distinctive pattern, with 'Juke' embossed at shoulder level on the seatback.

Also in the N-Connecta, N-Design and Tekna packages there are new seats with increased comfort. The seats for N-Connecta are made of the new Kira Melange fabric, consisting of PVC with fabric elements complementing patterned roller inserts. The Tekna models use black PVC as the new material with PVC accents and quilted effect inserts on the seat at the base and backrest.

Also in the interior of all Juke models, the glovebox has been increased to 7.8 litres (6.6 litres for right-hand drive versions). The armrest has been given an asymmetric design, increasing the reach by 25mm, making it more comfortable without compromising space for the cupholders. The armrest lifts up to give access to the centre storage compartment, as in the previous version of the Juke, but the lid now features a clip for three credit cards.

All Juke trims feature an electric parking brake. In the hybrid version, the e-Pedal and EV Mode buttons have been relocated for greater convenience. Starting with the N-Connecta trim, all versions now feature a wireless charger that can accommodate a smartphone the size of an iPhone 12 Pro Max. USB-A and C connectors are provided for both the first and second row of seats.

Under the bonnet of the updated Nissan Juke is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged DIG-T petrol engine. It delivers 117 litres and 180 Nm of torque (200 Nm with overdrive torque function). The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The hybrid has a 1.6-litre petrol four, an electric motor and a 1.2 kWh battery.

Deliveries of the updated Nissan Juke are expected to start later this year. Pricing is not yet known.
