This $12,500 EV has a maximum range of 510 km and is targeting the BYD Dolphin and Seagull.

GM has several joint ventures and brands in China, including Wuling. Wuling sells models co-developed with GM and SAIC, including EVs. The Wuling Bingo competes neck-and-neck with BYD's budget offerings, selling more than 200,000 units in its first nine months. The Bingo Plus adds more capability to the standard car and proves that GM knows how to build a competent low-cost EV. Unfortunately, not for the US or Europe.

Beneath the skin, the upgrades of the Bingo Plus give the vehicle more substance. The standard Bingo was slow and couldn't go very far - limited to around 41 or 67 horsepower from either a 17.3 kWh or 31.9 kWh battery pack. It could only reach a top speed of 100 km/h. The Bingo Plus is much more powerful, its 100 hp engine should be able to push the car to a top speed of 140 km/h. The 50.6 kWh battery is good for a maximum range of 510 km in the CLTC cycle, far more than the 333 km of the standard Bingo.

The Bingo Plus only has four seats, compared to the BYD Dolphin's five. It doesn't have a heat pump, which will probably affect its performance in cold weather. The Bingo also has automatic headlights and wipers, but manual climate control. But some of these points could easily be overlooked given the price of the Bingo Plus - around $12,500 for the top-of-the-range Bingo Plus.
