Nio, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has introduced its first mass-produced 150 kWh semi-solid battery pack. The company plans to make this battery pack available as part of its battery swap service in the coming months.

Mass production of the 150 kWh semi-solid battery has already started in China.

The 150 kWh semi-solid battery features an energy density of 360 Wh/kg at the cell level and 260 Wh/kg at the pack level. It is equipped with a cooling system six times stronger than those found in ordinary batteries and weighs 676 kg. When compared to other batteries on the market, such as Nio's own 100 kWh pack and BYD's 135.5 kWh LFP Battery, Nio's new offering proves lighter and more efficient.

The official launch of this innovative battery technology was announced on social media earlier this year. This battery will be one of several options for Nio's electric vehicles, including existing 75 kWh and 100 kWh batteries. The company also offers these batteries as part of a subscription service with monthly payments.

Nio tested the new battery in its ET7 sedan, achieving impressive distances on a single charge. In one test, the car traveled 1,044 km with 3% battery capacity remaining. Another test saw the vehicle covering 1,145 km from Kunming to Beihai, setting a world record for a mass-produced electric vehicle.

Nio did not disclose the exact release date of the 150 kWh SSB. However, the company announced on social media that the official launch is scheduled for the second quarter of this year. The start of mass production suggests that the 150 kWh SSB will be available at Nio's Power Swap Stations in the coming months.
