Ford engineers discover way to reduce energy consumption for EVs

Ford engineers have discovered that heating interior surfaces in electric vehicles (EVs) could reduce energy consumption for cabin heating by 13%, compared to using a standard aircon. This method of heating could also extend an EV’s range by up to 5% for a typical charge, according to research conducted as part of the European Commission’s Connected Electric Vehicle Optimised for Life, Value, Efficiency and Range project.
